(Note: Alarm bells especially for European countries like France, where the demography has been witnessing a metamorphic change in terms of increase in muslim population,  resulting in serious law and order problems.  Remember the killing of the 80+ year old French Priest inside the Church? Can one really blame Donald Trump?  His only fault is he has bared it all – Isaac Gomes, Associate Editor).

A new report by the US-based Pew Research Centre has found Muslims will likely outnumber Christians by 2070.

Islam is the only religion outpacing global population growth and it is predicted that more than a third of the global population will be Muslim.

Christianity is, by far, the world's largest current religion.

An estimated 2.2 billion people identified as Christian in 2010 – making up approximately 31 percent of Earth's 6.9 billion people.

Islam was second with 1.6 billion followers, or 23-percent of the world's population.

Despite growing numbers of people identifying as non-religious in Europe and North America, global numbers are also set to decline from 16.4 percent to 13.2 percent by 2050.

However, the report noted that the global number of Christians could likely also decline as adherents identify as non-religious or convert to other faiths.

The Pew Research Centre predict approximately 40 million people will convert to Christianity globally. But the number of those leaving the faith will far outweigh those converting, with 106 million people predicted to no longer identify as Christian by 2070.
