Warning Bells from Warring Citizens – Trouble in Shamshabad Diocese!

25th February 2018 has become a milestone in the history of Church Citizens’ freedom struggle from within Syro-Malabar Catholic Church. Since its inception as an independent Eparchy, in 1992, SM Church Citizens were unhappy. The prelates not only deprived the laity of all their rights over their hard-earned properties but also pushed in new faith rules and strange rituals including the introduction of Manichaean cross in the disguise of Marthomman heredity. Pay, Pray and Obey became the rule of the Church. Power crazy Bishops roamed all around with practically senseless estate managers – the recent Ernakulam developments prove this point. Everywhere in the SM kingdom there were uprises, and some still continue. Kerala Catholic Church Reformation Movement is the strongest of the Laity groups, with a branch in USA too. They run their own blogspot, online news portal and a popular monthly magazine – Sathyajwala (http://almayasabdam.com/sathyajvala/sathyajvala-2/ to download previous issues). As Charismatic fellowship grew strong, the number of blind believers also grew. The laity was split and they could not advance much. 

Everywhere outside Kerala, SM Bishops were chasing the NRIs with a deadly warning that they are bound to follow an SM life as the Synod instructs. The Delhi people could not contain the joint Pastoral decree issued in Delhi Churches ordering all Delhi SM origin catholics to register immediately under Faridabad SM Eparchy. They rose up in unity, but the Faridabad Bishop was not ready for any adjustment. They finally forwarded an appeal to Pope Francis. Last year, the Delhi people received the Vatican decision with great applause. The Cardinal-in-charge responsible for the Oriental Churches said that no amendments were required here and meant that SM prelates were misinterpreting the Canon. Vatican permitted Delhi Catholics to continue being members in the same Latin Church they were accustomed to.

The new diocese of Shamshabad also resorted to the Faridabad policy of compulsory obedience. There, the Ahmedabad SM Catholics decided to stay united and fight for their right to continue in the Latin Rite churches where they are members. On 25th February 2018, they assembled in the Food Graphics Conference Hall in Thaltej, Ahmedabad. The hall was fully crowded.

SMC4U (Gujarat) was declared that day. However, their appeal was practically ignored, though responded with sweet usual church phrases. Till date, Bp Mar Thatil has not given SMC4U a date to listen to their woes. At the same time, the team continued receiving support from not only the whole of Ahmedabad but also from other areas of Gujarat state. Words of support and encouragement flowed in from all corners of the world. Finally SMC4U has decided to fight for the rights of the entire SM Church Citizens’ community.

SMC4U has been sharing their views through DUCs (Daily Unity Capsules). They are question answer capsules. All the 26 DUCs issued so far are given below. Pleae read and decide.

Myth: SMC4U (Guj) is working against Syro Malabar Church and the Church authorities?

Reply: Absolutely not! Members of SMC4U are proud of their rich Syro- Malabar tradition and patrimony. We accept and respect Papal declaration on the erection of Shamshabad Diocese and the appointment of Mar Raphael Thattil… Our consistent stand since late 1970s, both from within MACAF and outside, is that each Syro Malabar faithful should get pastoral care of liturgy and sacraments in Syro Malabar Rite. In fact, the chaplaincy of Fr Antony Myladil and the appointment of Fr Kuriachen as Episcopal Vicar, are the result of this persistent stand. We unambiguously assure each member of the community that this policy will never be diluted.

Note: The only difference is that the local diocese happily provide these things, and we live happily as ever in Unity!! So, there is no place of hatred or divisive/ destructive agenda

 Myth: If SMC4U recognises the creation of Shamshabad Diocese and appointment of Mar Raphael Thattil, why this demand for maintaining status quo with Ahmedabad Diocese?

Reply: Both are two distinct subjects, and should be understood accordingly.

First, there is no reason to object to the Papal decision of creating any number of dioceses or appointing bishops. And we are no exception!

Second issue is a little complex and should be understood in proper perspective. Historically, for almost 20 centuries, SM Church never worked as a missionary church and remained within Kerala as its original jurisdiction. It was in late 1960s Church moved out of Kerala. Since then migrants, like us, have been its main source, target and strength.

SM migrants settled in various towns and cities have profoundly merged themselves with the local Latin Dioceses in liturgy and sacraments. In some places, they received pastoral care in Latin Rite. But in most places (e.g. Gujarat) they received pastoral care in SM Rite with SM Priests specially appointed for them (e.g. Kuriachen and all others).

While erecting new dioceses in such migrant areas, Pope has allowed certain special provisions for all the faithful. Accordingly, a Syro Malabar Catholic settled in Gujarat have two options; both of which are completely legal and valid for the whole Universal Church.

1st option:- We can continue with the local Latin Diocese in the same way as we were in the past. In this cases, local bishop has the duty and responsibility to give us priests and all other arrangements in SM Rite!

2nd option:- Join the new diocese and stop all present attachments within the local Latin diocese.

And, we, the Syro Malabar community of Ahmedabad unanimously choose Option-1 for the reasons which are specific and unambiguous๐Ÿ™

Daily Unity Capsule (DUC)-3:-

Myth: Why SMC4U stands for Option-1, that is, to remain continued with local Latin Diocese? Won’t it jeopardise our future collaboration with other SM dioceses or our repatriation to Kerala, on matters of marriage, onward migration, etc?

Reply: Let the answer also be in two parts!

First part, reasons for choosing Option-1 is not only emotional and sentimental, but it is a conviction and an attitude of a community! For those first generation elders, it is a gratitude to a mother who fed, nurtured, and cared them in their days of struggle…Gratitude to the church and priests who spent their prime time and energy for their spiritual care, educational support, social and economic growth, which all helped them to set their foot firm in alien land, and changed the colour from blue to white. For them, anything beyond Option-1 is like leaving their aged mother in an orphanage!! Or like abusing the parents who brought them up even out of scarcity!!

For the second generation, it is a conscious decision, passionately taken upon feeling the beauty of Unity which they lived through their lives. They were accepted by the local church and clergy without even letting them know their origins or difference !! ….And for the 3rd and next generations, anything beyond the existing beauty or anything that divides the fellowship in the community, is incomprehensible, senseless and just fanatic! They live in an open world and see the tricks and frauds that happen around them in the name of liturgy, tradition, Rites, hegemony and right wing extremism! They need no interpreters or attorneys to understand what is legal, logical and reasonable!! For them Option-1 is not an option, but their เคฆเคฟเคฒ เค•เฅ€ เคงเคกเคผเค•เคจ !!

Anybody who claims having gained power and position outside the above growth-story, are paradropped with hidden agenda !!!!

Since SMC4U represents the vast majority that comprise all generations as above, the choice of Option-1 is purely voluntary and just ‘natural’!!

Now, second part of the question.. any propaganda against invalidation of any certificates issued by local Latin Diocese as part of the arrangements under Option-1 are factually and legally wrong, hence intended to be misleading!! In fact, Holy See describes the attitude of choosing Option-1 as "praiseworthy"๐Ÿ‘ As per the Papal directions, sacraments received by SM faithful from Latin Church are fully valid. It is unambiguously directed that, in such cases, Latin Pastor has to inform the SM Pastor about the sacraments including marriage, and the SM Pastor has to accept the same and notify them in their records. Pope has vehemently insisted that all such inter-Church documentations should be prompt and the procedures should be seamless ๐Ÿ˜ŠIssues concerning cases involving repatriation back to Kerala are evidently solved with such inter-diocesional documentation… Hope things are clear ๐Ÿ™

Note: Watch out tomorrow on a question regarding SMC4U stand on Church construction, ongoing census and demand for monetary contributions!

Daily Unity Capsule (DUC)-4:-  

 Myth: What is SMC4U take on the ongoing community census, demand for monetary contributions for new church construction, etc.?

Reply: First community census!! A few years ago, the number of SMC members  in Ahmedabad was reported as 30,000!! It was a time when a separate SM Diocese for Ahmedabad was demanded by a group!! MACAF Jubilee Directory-2008 burst the bubble!! Since then SMC  authorities are being told that the number is 15,000! Leave it all, don’t you think that the best authority to give the actual number is Fr Kuriachen? If yes, believe this…he gives it as ‘550 families’. So the realistic number of members is 2,500!!

So, if the so called census is a mere head count, fine! But here it is done with a hidden agenda of unscrupulously “enrolling” for Option-2 (Shamshabad direct administration). Therefore, SMC4U is against it!

Now Contribution and Church construction…. SMC4U doesn’t endorse avoidable overlapping of jurisdiction. There is absolutely no need to construct new churches in the areas where we already have a Latin Church which we continue using as part of Option-1. But SMC is welcomed to construct new churches in newly developed areas, which are far from present churches. (e.g. Adalaj, Ognej, Hatijan, Pirana, Santej, Prantij areas of Ahmedabad.) Such churches can also  be used by the Latin faithful living in those areas, in the same way we use theirs. Surely, we will contribute for such constructions.

And on forceful contributions in the name of canonical expulsion, sacrament ban, etc…SMC4U wants an ROFLMAO !!

Note: Next in the line…If the appointment of Fr Kuriachen stands cancelled with the creation of Shamshabad diocese, how can the appointment of other priests in local parishes (e.g. Thaltej, Loyola, Navrangpura, Maninagar, etc) still considered valid?

Daily Unity Capsule (DUC)-5:-

Qn: If the appointment of Fr Kuriachen as the Episcopal Vicar stands invalidated with creation of Shamshabad diocese, how can be the appointment of other priests in local parishes [e.g. Thaltej, Loyola, Navrangpura, Maninagar, etc] still considered valid??

Reply: As already stated earlier, creation of Shamshabad Diocese and consequent appointment of Fr. Joseph Pulavelil as Syncellus (Episcopal Vicar) for Gujarat, has invalidated the appointment of Fr. Kuriachen as the Episcopal Vicar for those Syro Malabar members who choose Option-2, i.e. to switch over from the present set up within Ahmedabad Diocese to the direct administration by Shamshabad Diocese.

Validity and continuity of priests serving in other local parishes [e.g. Thaltej, Loyola, Navrangpura, Sabarmati, Maninagar, etc.] is only a temporary arrangement made by Shamshabad Bishop for those who choose Option-2. Mar Raphael Thattil has already clarified this position in his circular dated 26.02.2018 and the video message. Therefore, evidently, appointment of all these priests will be cancelled as soon as separate churches and parishes are established and separate priests are appointed by Shamshabad Diocese. SMC4U feels pained to this use-and-throw policy! ๐Ÿ˜ข

However, Fr. Kuriachen is still the Episcopal Vicar for those who chose Option-1, i.e. who remain with Ahmedabad Diocese as per the structure that exists since 70 years, as his appointment has not been cancelled by the Bishop of Ahmedabad who appointed him. Similarly, the present set up of priests serving in local parishes will also continue for the SM faithful who choose Option-1. There will not be a displacement of these priests, which has been assured by Archbishop Thomas Macwan during his meeting with SMC4U.๐Ÿ™

Tailpiece: Since construction of 10-12 churches within the city is not an easy task, the faithful who choose Option-2 should soon get ready for settling down in residential flats or private properties, on the lines of "Thaltej Bishop's House" and greet each other with Hari Om!!

Daily Unity Capsule (DUC)-6:-

Qn: What is wrong in purchasing residential flats or private properties for liturgical purpose? Why SMC4U objects it?

Reply: Let us take up a small bunch of identical questions which will blow the lid off mumbo jumbo talks !! .. What is wrong in considering the local churches as also the personal parishes of SM Church? What is wrong in going to Latin Churches and offering SM liturgy and sacraments there? What is wrong in administering sacraments by SM Priests who are working in Latin diocese or Jesuits Society or such other congregations, not managed by SM Church? What is wrong in celebrating Holy Mass and other liturgies in the manner as celebrated by half of SM Church, and why to insist a particular rite adopted by a few Kerala dioceses? What is wrong with the cross and crucifix that adored our churches since ages known, and also now kept in half of our dioceses, and why to insist that all existing crucifix and cross should be replaced with a particular one? What is wrong in constructing SM Churches only in the areas where there is none today, and also using such churches by all Catholic denominations for their liturgical needs?… Though the list is endless, our answer is single: "Nothing Wrong" !! That is what all SMC4U stands for !!

Now, what is that actually SMC4U objects? Answer is: Opaque and Cloudy deals!! Do we need a better example, than the land deal row which now shakes the throne of our MAB Mar George Alencherry?

SMC4U has been consistently speaking for transparency in dealing with public money; money that is contributed by the people in the name of SM Church! We do not support if a few sycophants who collect millions of rupees and park it in the name of some newly created trust under their own trusteeship, wherein SM Church has actually no role to play!! We condemn cases if private properties are purchased and registered in the name of individuals, by showcasing it as Church Property and then asking the faithful to contribute towards payment of EMI and maintenance!! The issue acquires significance and seriousness, when such places are projected by Church Authorities as their official residences, bishop's house, place of worship, etc. where they even celebrate the all important Chrism Mass!!

Note: There may also be a question as to why it hurts SMC4U…! It hurts because, SM Church is nobody's private property which could be registered in their own name!! It hurts because the Church Authorities do not smell the rat, even after creating a world record of embarrassment at the Headquarters itself !!

Daily Unity Capsule (DUC)-7:-

While we welcome and appreciate ๐Ÿ‘the prompt response from Mar Raphael Thattil which appears to be pragmatic and prejudice-free, we respectfully ๐Ÿ™disagree the statement by His Lordship in letter dated 12.03.2018 that nobody raised these issues till date, despite giving ample opportunities to express the viewpoints during his frequent visits to Ahmedabad/Gujarat !!๐Ÿ™ Let these pictures speak the story!!

During this interactive session which took place in Bishop's House, Ahmedabad and lasted for more than an hour, the delegation had put forward our community's concerns against any division, and also opined against construction of new churches with overlapping jurisdictions…The delegation also offered support for a unified community building with need-based constructionsโ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Šโ˜๏ธ

DAILY UNITY CAPSULE (DUC)-8:-

Issue: The following part of DUC-5 was found quoted by WhatsApp Swayamsevaks today with clarifications from their chief, and celebrated by the bhakts !

"However, Fr. Their clarification: "1. On the eretion or establishment of new Diocese by the Holy father for for Syro Malabar faithful who were under the Latin bishops, the care taking authority which the Latin bishops were having earlier under the then arrangement, the Holy catholic then had, and the said arrangement came to an end by the establishment of a new diocese for Syro Malabar people who were under Latin dioceses, and automatically the entire Syro malabar people has come under the new Diocese and new bishop. Holy father’s letter says “ a member of the Syro Malabar faithful, by virtue of the same law, is also a member of parish where, he or she is domiciled (code of canons of the Eastern churches, can, 280(1)”. Therefore every Syro Malabar faithful is a member of the Syro Malabar parish under the new Syro Malabar Diocese. However if some one wish to remain with Latin church or even join the Latin church after following the procedures provided therein, they can do so , and the Latin bishops or his priest can take care of their spiritual needs under Latin rite. Latin bishop cannot appoint an episcopal Vicar or priests for Syro Malabar people who opting to remain with Latin parishes. Therefore no Latin bishop will step in to the shoe of Syro Malabar bishop and canonically such arrangement cannot be done by Ahmedabad bishop or Archbishop of Gandhinagar under the law. Therefore the say that Archbishops has assured for the appointment of Syro Malabar priests who would remain with the Latin parishes, is false and misleading. Those who made such statement may be asked to produce such an assurance in writing from the Latin bishops. The statement circulated is a total misrepresentation to misguide people. If the above my statement is wrong or otherwise, any priests those who are working for Syro Malabar people basically from Latin Diocese and or any Latin congregations can correct me. I say that No priests will get authority over Syro Malabar people domicile of the area of Shamshabad Diocese and under the jurisdiction of its respective parishes, unless present bishop of Shamshabad authorise them. No bishop other than bishop of Shamshabad has spiritual authority over the Syro Malabar people within the territory of Shamshabad diocese.

2. In response to the tailpiece , it is a tailpiece and doesn’t warrant a clarification as they are seems to be from a person with hatred and lack of common sense. However it is clarified that bishop house at Thaltej is the official regional residence of bishop of Shamshabad, whether some one accept it or not. Those who are ashamed of the present house or set up for the Diocese are welcome for an alternative to it, an independent bishop house for the bishop of Shamshabad."

Our Reply:- First, thanks for this opportunity for clarification ๐Ÿ™ Happy that only these two points from the 20-odd issues handled by DUC were found unacceptable or misleading by the self proclaimed godfathers of SM church. ๐Ÿ‘We are also happy that even the above clarification unequivocally accepts the facts relating to Option-1 (that the Syro Malabarians can remain with the existing Ahmedabad Diocese even after Shamshabad Diocese is erected..!!) ๐Ÿ˜€Now, the key objection is about the continuity of Fr. Kuriachen as the Episcopal Vicar for those Syro Malabarians who chose Option-1…

Fact:- โ˜๏ธThe Code of Canons, Catechism of Catholic Church and Vatican-II unambiguously provide that the Pastors of Catholic Church (without any discrimination of individual sui juris churches or rites) have the supreme and divine responsibility to provide pastoral care to the Christian faithful in their charge. Therefore, Ahmedabad/Gandhinagar Bishop, under whom the charge is entrusted for the pastoral care of Syro Malabarians who chose Option-1, has the authority and responsibility to give such care.

Law:- โœ๏ธNow, please read Canon 383 of Code of Canon Law, which reads as under:-

"Can. 383 §1. In exercising the function of a pastor, a diocesan bishop is to show himself concerned for all the Christian faithful entrusted to his care, of whatever age, condition, or nationality they are, whether living in the territory or staying there temporarily; he is also to extend an apostolic spirit to those who are not able to make sufficient use of ordinary pastoral care because of the condition of their life and to those who no longer practise their religion.

§2. If he has faithful of a different rite in his diocese, he is to provide for their spiritual needs either through priests or parishes of the same rite or through an episcopal vicar."

Point:- ๐Ÿ‘ŒI am sure, none of the members of this group would require an advocate to interpret the above §2 which gives unconditional power to the Diocesan Latin Bishop to appoint an Episcopal Vicar exclusively for Syro Malabarians who choose Option-1 by entrusting themselves under his charge of pastoral care. And Can. 479 §2 gives full authority to such Episcopal Vicar over the faithful for whom he was appointed….!! The matter ends here! ๐Ÿค

Regarding tailpiece:- There was no clarification at all from the chieftain, except measuring our common sense! The official website or records of Shamshabad diocese nowhere mentions any Ahmedabad Lady's flat as the ‘Bishop House for the Bishop of Shamshabad’ or as the Headquarters of Gujarat Syro Malabar Church. Nor we think that our Church is so reprehensible! If such a unique recognition has been imparted by the proper authority, they should show it to the people, instead of calling them names of or sniggering at the facts!

On challenge:- Nobody has been given charge as godfather of Syro Malabarians of Ahmedabad/Gujarat. People have the strength and resources to build a 100 Bishops House if they find it a genuine need. They only need such deals to be not dubious but transparent! Even the MAB finds it difficult to explain the clouds hovering over his throne!!

Note: We will take up the matter with the authorities to know if the words personal references used in the so-called clarification conform to the official line of diocesan pastoral council.

Qn: Why SMC4U has an inclination towards Latin Church even while asserting their pride of being Syro Malabarians ?

Reply: We have a definite answer! But is their an answer to, "why a few hyper-traditionalists feel annoyed even on the thoughts of Latin Church and its clergy?"

SMC4U never said that any Syro Malabarians should leave their faith and tradition, and embrace membership in Latin Church! Indeed, we have made it clear that canonically, a Syro Malabarian cannot change his Rite, and with creation of Shamshabad diocese, they become natural members there. Our Option-1 is all about technical membership and entrusting them our pastoral care well within the four walls of law and Papal Directions. Therefore, the so called inclination is nothing but an expression of “Gratitude and Obligation”

Gratitude for accepting our elders who migrated here 70 years back, and for helping them as their own fellowmen ! Obligation for giving us pastoral care in the language and liturgy of our hearts !! Gratitude for nurturing us to grow as a community in unity and fellowship, without letting us even think of our roots or difference !! Obligation for appointing dedicated Pastors like Fr. Antony Myladil, Fr. Kuriachen, Fr. Binu and a long line of Jesuit Priests, exclusively for our sustained spiritual growth !! Gratitude for allowing use of their churches, schools, cemeteries and all infrastructure without a question ever asked !! Obligation for giving assured admissions to our children which made us economically and socially an independent and respectful community!! Gratitude for supporting our youth to excel as leaders and performers in an age of cut-throat competition !! In short, ‘obligation and gratitude’ for making us what we are today!!๐Ÿ™

Friends, how many of us, who honestly introspect our past, can forget the mentorship received from them towards our individual and collective growth? How many of us can brag that we would have been better today without their succour?

Now, does anyone from us think that Latin Church is our enemy?! I definitely know a strong group in Central Kerala,  which try to impose chaldeon patrimony upon Syro Malabar Church, says so and teaches it !! Should we allow them to use our fellowship as their launchpad to fire shots of hatred and contempt?

And, take a look at those who vociferously abuse the local diocese and impose a vertical division. Either they carry grudge on personal failures or false clashes! Or they reached Gujarat when the fruits of our fellowship was ripe enough to enjoy!! Those who realized their talents on the stages set by the local clergy in schools and colleges, are radically indoctrinated and run like human bombs to explode with divisive agenda!! What is their difference with terrorists who grow their might on our soil and live abroad to fund  for destruction of our Nation?!?

Yes, SMC4U and the Syro Malabar community of Ahmedabad has a leaning towards its mentors, for they were nothing short of our guardian angels! โ˜บFor, we have been brought up by parents who taught us compassion and gratitude! While we pity on those who could not form part of those struggling days, we condemn those who nurse a grudge against them to settle scores!!

Note: A community which proudly upheld their faith and tradition in their own language, liturgy and Rite for 70 years, by remaining within the domains of local diocese, very well know how to bring up their children; how to maintain equilibrium in their spiritual lives; and what culture their next gen should imbibe !! They need no godfathers whose divisive agenda is crystal clear !!โ˜๏ธ

Daily Unity Capsule (DUC)-10:-  

Qn: SMC4U states that continuity of the present SM priests working in local parishes [e.g. Thaltej, Loyola, Navrangpura, Sabarmati, Maninagar, etc.], is only a temporary arrangement for those who chose Option-2 [i.e. switching over to direct administration by Shamshabad]. However, the festal leaflets and other notices published by these churches indicate their position as Parish Priests of Syro Malabar Parish. Then, how can they be considered as temporary?

Reply: First, we still reiterate that the pastoral care provided by the local diocese and its churches/parishes to the SM faithful who chose Option-2  is purely a temporary arrangement !! In fact, this temporary arrangement is only for sharing the building/premises as allowed by the local diocese on a request by Mar Raphael Thattil. This will be in force only till the date when such Syro Malabarians build their own parishes and churches. This is clearly evident also from the circular dated 26.02.2018 and the video message issued by Mar Raphael Thattil.

 The priests who are providing such pastoral care in these local parishes were originally appointed by the Bishop of Ahmedabad. Their appointment is within the domain of Latin Diocese and the under the authority of Ahmedabad Bishop. They are specifically designated as "Assistant Parish Priests [of the respective Latin parishes] in charge of the Syro Malabar faithful residing within its areas". They can never claim or function as Parish Priest for Syro Malabar Diocese !! And the leaflets and notices printed this way is only an illusion of those who run their sinister campaign for community division. The fact is that as on date, Shamshabad Syro Malabar Diocese has not erected/established any SM parishes/churches in Ahmedabad and not appointed any Parish Priest. Qn: There has been some responses with reference to DUC-7 which portrayed a MACAF delegation meeting Mar Raphael Thattil! Some asked, if MACAF and SMC4U are one and the same group? Another said MACAF being a ‘cultural association’, has nothing to do with the mission of Mar Raphael Thattil!!

Reply: โœ๏ธBoth the above responses indicate their complete ignorance about the rich tradition of a large Christian community!! ๐Ÿ˜€

๐Ÿ‘Those who create associations and trusts on weekly basis, just to remain president and to open and operate bank accounts, can never understand what is MACAF!! Those who work day and night to destroy and divide a unified community, can never understand what is Fellowship!! …But, SMC4U is proud of being part of that fellowship.โ˜๏ธ

Our community knows MACAF for 35 years… They know that MACAF is their attitude !! It is their passion!!โ˜บ๏ธ

Efforts were also made way back in 2007 to brush MACAF as a "cultural association" with a hidden agenda to keep it away from meeting Mar Gratian Mundadan, the then Apostolic Visitator for Syro Malabar Migrants on his visit to Ahmedabad!! No doubt, the present response also must have been drafted by these same elements with same interests!! ๐Ÿ˜

โ˜๏ธ1977 : Mar Antony Padiyara, First Major Archbishop of Syro Malabar Church and the then Apostolic Visitor to the Syro Malabar Catholics visited Ahmedabad to inquire about the pastoral care for the faithful. Malayalee Catholic community, under the leadership of their Chaplain, Fr. Antony Myladil gave him a rousing welcome. His reply speech is still famous among the elders; "Coming from Manimala to Maninagar, I feel homely as I find no difference in the pastoral care for Syro Malabar community!!"

โ˜๏ธ1992 : When the voice of divisive elements within the Catholic Church was at its peak, MACAF had submitted a memorandum to His Excellency George Zur, then Apostolic Pro-Nuncio to India on November 27, which stated: "We do believe that Catholics are one…. and there should not be cause for division based on rites and regions". The print media including SAR News published it with great importance!

โ˜๏ธ1994 : Following the sudden demise of Fr. Antony Myladil, our community felt orphaned without a shepherd. It was then that MACAF met Bishop Stanislaus Fernandez SJ with their grievance. Consequently, Fr. Kuriachen was appointed exclusively for the pastoral care of our people. Years later, he was appointed Episcopal Vicar for Syro Malabarians.

โ˜๏ธ1995 : A MACAF delegation met the Bishop and Jesuit Provincial in August, 1995 requesting permanent posting of priests in the major parishes of Ahmedabad to cater the growing needs of pastoral care of our community. The result is what is seen today in more than six parishes of the city!!

โ˜๏ธ2007 : MACAF felicitated Mar Gratian Mundadan, the then Apostolic Visitator for Syro Malabar Migrants in Ahmedabad. A delegation of all past leaders of MACAF had a meeting with the visiting Bishop and explained the facilities enjoyed by Ahmedabad Syro Malabar community from their local diocese and parishes.

โ˜๏ธAgain, MACAF has held reception and felicitation of Mar Gregory Karotemprel CMI and Mar Vijay Anand Nedumpuram CMI, both of whom remained Chairmen of Commission for the Pastoral Care of Syro Malabar Migrants..

๐Ÿ‘None of the above dignitaries or authorities have ever thought that MACAF is only a “Cultural Association”!! But, they knew that MACAF is the community !!!  19.03.2018: Daily Unity Capsule (DUC)-12:-  

Qn: The text of a question received: "It is being communicated in few parishes very clearly that all those who do not want to  submit the Census form, which is being circulated among SM community, need to give in writing that they would like to continue with the local Latin rite. Thereafter it will go to the bishop of Shamshabad diocese and it will be announced in the parish and among SM community that henceforth he will not be belonging  to SM community anymore. Also it is communicated that from next year onward all the sacraments such as baptism, communion, etc will be done separably for SM community under Shamshabad diocese not with Latin community….What is the relevance of the Census form which is circulated? Is it distributed among all the SM community residing in Ahmedabad? These are my doubts and can you give some clarity?"

Reply: A number of members have raised similar concerns on the ongoing coercive census..!!

The simple answer: It is totally illegal to conduct any such forceful exercise… It is illegal not only in the eyes of Canon Law and any principles acknowledged by the Catholic Church, but it is Illegal in civil law too ! The letter of Bishop Oswald Lewis, Bishop of Jaipur which was published in this group on 16.03.2018 tells it in clear words !!

To those who burn their night lamp to contradict/clarify the DUCs.. We dare you deny doing it !!

And to those who look forward to SMC4U…

Nobody is required to declare in writing as to whether they should continue with Latin Church (Option-1) or to Switch over to Shamshabad (Option-2)! It is for the respective parishes to maintain records of the parishioners!

No Bishop (or even Pope) can announce in any Church/Parish that those who did not give such written declarations are not belonging to SM community. [Whether you continue with Latin Church or whether you switch over to the direct administration of Shamshabad, you always remain as a Syro Malabar Catholic. Nobody can change this status in life or in death !!]

Since years, Syro Malabarians are holding separate celebrations for liturgy and sacraments. Now it is held separately in Latin Churches. Tomorrow those who choose Option-2 may conduct it at somewhere else! What difference it makes for those who chose Option-1? For those who remain with local latin parishes, it is the duty and responsibility of local pastors to provide them as per their choice! And it is already assured that the present arrangements for their pastoral care will continue for them !!

It is not merely a census form.. It is a kind of masked bullying, an indirect hollow threat of canonical expulsion and sacramental ban! It has no legal or moral sanctity, except to ensure that  you turn towards new alm-boxes! It is an exercise to identify and classify people to collect different slabs of contribution !!

NOTE: Since SMC4U brought this issue on public domain, the census exercise has been suspended in many areas.

Qn: โ˜๏ธCertain lies and misleading claims are circulated in the community Reply : "Don't forget that in 1992 Macaf wrote a letter to nuncio and Major Archbishop that they do not want Syro Malabar Priests and they are happy with the then English and Gujarati mass. Letters are still alive. Ask Kuriachen how he got appointment by then Ahmedabad Bishop Stany Fernandez. Let us take a referendum for the present situation and let people say they don't want Shamshabad Diocese. Why Macaf is shying away and new outfit is created as SMC4U to oppose the new Diocese. To be answered.

Don't forget that Bishop (then) Macwan directed Macaf not to interfere with the spiritual activities of Syro Malabar community and church. Don't forget that Macaf was prevented from carrying out any spiritual activities and thereby a separate body called Charismatic Service Team had to be created for conducting spiritual activities. Don't forget that majority of present Macaf office bearers and committee members are never attending any Syro Malabar quabana in any of the parishes. Macaf will have to explain why though 80 percent its members are Syro Malabar people why they opposed syro Malabar church. Who suddenly inspired this love for Syro Malabar church."

Reply: โœ๏ธNeither MACAF nor SMC4U feels scared of people's questions!! Rather, we consider it our responsibility to place truth before the community !! ๐Ÿ‘Here are the definite answers, which doubting members can personally verify from the concerned authority. ๐Ÿ™

โ˜๏ธMACAF never written to the Nuncio that we do not want SM priests nor we are happy with English and Gujarati mass. Our letter of November, 1992 expressed happiness over the arrangements for SM Priests and SM Masses being made by Bishop of Ahmedabad for the pastoral care of SMC members!! [MACAF sent no letter to MAB, as the post of MAB exists in SM Church only from 16.12.1992.

โ˜๏ธNeither MACAF nor SMC4U ever objected Shamshabad Diocese. On the contrary, we accepted the authority and jurisdiction of Shamshabad Diocese as true Catholics who remain obedient to the decrees of Holy Father !!๐Ÿ™

** โ˜๏ธYes, ask Kuriachen how he came to Ahmedabad from Khempur in April, 1994… Also ask him about those who made him in tears during June, 1995 with false allegations of carrying out election campaign for MACAF!!๐Ÿ˜ณ

** โ˜๏ธBishop Thomas Macwan never directed MACAF not to interfere with the spiritual activities. ๐Ÿ‘The truth is that these same people had wrote a letter to Bishop seeking immediate ban of MACAF๐Ÿ˜„ But the actual result was that, within two months, MACAF was officially recognized as the "only Malayalee Catholic Lay Association approved by the Diocese of Ahmedabad" !! ๐Ÿ‘ŒIt is his hallucination that his demand for ban came into force at once!๐Ÿ‘Œ

** โ˜๏ธCreation of Charismatic Service Team was not an idea of an Ahmedabad Pope! It was a direction by National Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services (NCCRS) which is recognized by CBCI. When NCCRS desired that all charismatic activities in the country should be brought under one umbrella, the same was communicated by Fr. Kuriachen and was accepted by MACAF. We call it obedience to our Spiritual Director and Episcopal Vicar!! ๐Ÿ™[It is another story that a local pope came from nowhere and proclaimed himself as the President and Pontiff of ASTI, GUSTI etc. which are all now part of history so also its funds]๐Ÿ™€

** โ˜๏ธMACAF or SMC4U does not consider any individual as a superior catholic or the one got any Intellectual Property Right over others!! We never believe that Mar Thoma reached our family in Kerala, nor that the tradition and patrimony of SM Church began from our drawing room! ๐Ÿ˜We never consider Church as our Private Property!! If anybody thinks that they can claim so, let them do it !! We will pray for their healing !! ๐Ÿ™

Qn: โ˜๏ธAnother query by a youth member; "Since the formation of the Shamshabad Diocese is by the order of Pope and pope has appointed Mar Raphael Thattil as the bishop, I think the SM community will have no option but to join Shamshabad diocese as SM Christian or to join Latin by giving in writing as communicated by the Church. Once a SM Church is erected in Ahmedabad all the appointed priests for SM community from parishes like Thaltej, Maninagar, Sabarmati, Loyola etc can be withdrawn by Rev Thattil Pithav as he has the complete power over SM community across India? Where will Ahmedabad bishop bring SM priests from? If we have to give in writing that I want to continue with Latin rite what will be the role of Fr Kuriachen if he remains as EV? If still Fr. Kuriachen is the EV for SM community for those who want to continue with Latin Parishes, why is he not intervening the issues and making it clear to the SM community or why are we not approaching him?

Can SM community have two Episcopal Vicars? The circular dated 26.02.2018 thanked Fr Kuriachen for serving the SM community. it is mentioned in the past tense… Fr, Kuriachen Paul who "WAS" serving as Episcopal Vicar…. Is it meant that he has no role to play as far as the SM community is concerned?"

Reply: โœ๏ธ(1) With creation of Shamshabad diocese, all SM faithful residing within its area of jurisdiction automatically become its members. But, by being the members of Shamshabad Diocese, they are also allowed by Holy Father to continue with the present Latin Church/Parish/Diocese. No written declaration is mandatory for exercising such option. It is a choice of one's conscience๐Ÿ‘

โ˜๏ธ(2) The SM priests of Thaltej, Maninagar, Sabarmati, Loyola etc are appointed by Bishop of Ahmedabad. Therefore, Bishop of Shamshabad cannot cancel such appointments. They will continue to serve those who chose Option-1. ๐Ÿ‘

โ˜๏ธ(3) Since 70 years, Ahmedabad/Gujarat did not find dearth of SM Priests for the pastoral care of SM community. Even if we assume any such shortage in future, there are provisions which allow Bishop of Ahmedabad to adopt priests from other places/congregations. For example, in the light of Vatican-II, CBCI had met in Calcutta in 1974 and decided; "Priests, Brothers, Sisters and others from dioceses that are rich in vocation specially in the South should be invited to work in dioceses where there is a dearth of personnel…"๐Ÿ‘

โ˜๏ธ(4) Fr Kuriachen continues to be EV for those who chose Option-1, unless his appointment is revoked by Bishop of Ahmedabad. His non-intervention in the current transitional disputes indicates his high level of obedience to the authorities. He is too busy with his pastoral works to meddle with any controversy over temporal goods!!๐Ÿ‘

โ˜๏ธ(4) There is nothing wrong if two EV work in the same geographical location, if they are appointed by two different diocesan bishops.

โ˜๏ธ(5) When Bishop Thattil used the past tense "WAS" and expressed gratitude to Fr Kuriachen, it was on his behalf and on behalf of those leaving the present set up under Option-2. For those under Option-1 there is hardly any change.

Qn: It is being told that the activities of Shamshabad Diocese are being undertaken from a residential flat and a car, registered in the name of an individual. Is there anything wrong in it, especially since the new diocese has no building or vehicle of its own?

Reply: โœ๏ธThe simple answer to the question is "Nothing Wrong in it !"๐Ÿ‘There is nothing wrong for the priests or bishop to stay in a residential flat or to carry out church activities therefrom, till the new diocese established its own arrangements. However, there seems to be much more than what is asked in a simple term!!โš ๏ธ

โ˜๏ธIf the residential flat has been purchased out of the funds contributed by the SM community, there is a point… โ˜๏ธSuch contributions have been consciously made by the faithful to the SM Church and to its declared causes. ๐Ÿ‘Therefore, it is church property. In such case, any purchase and its registration can never be made in the name of an individual๐Ÿ™Please read the following:-

โœ๏ธ"Canon 1020§1. Every authority is under the grave obligation to see that the temporal goods acquired by the Church be registered in the name of the juridic person to which they belong, with due regard for the prescriptions of civil law which safeguard the rights of the Church"

โ˜๏ธIn our case, the 'juridic person' is only the Diocese or the Parish, and not an individual [even Mar Raphael Thattil is not a juridic person]๐Ÿ‘โ˜๏ธIn the above case, it is said that Church property is purchased out of funds contributed by the faithful and even the EMI and maintenance are paid by them. ๐Ÿ˜ณ If the property registered in an individual's name is projected/claimed as "Bishop's House" or "Regional Headquarters" of the SM Church/Diocese, it is a grave violation of law. ๐Ÿ‘Again, if further contributions are collected from the faithful for maintenance or EMI of such Church property, it is nothing but unabated violation of law, not only by the said individual and the people supporting it, but also by the Church authorities who allow the same too..โœ๏ธ

๐Ÿ™SMC4U believes that no individual, not even the Pope or MAB, is above the Church! ๐Ÿ‘ŒTherefore, SMC4U demands, if the above facts are true, the same should immediately be corrected and a clarification should be issued by Bishop of Shamshabad Diocese to clear the minds of the faithful. ๐Ÿ™

NOTE: Although the question appears to be short, a short answer will create more ambiguity. So, SMC4U would answer the more important part of this issue in DUC-16.

23.03.2018 : Daily Unity Capsule (DUC)-16:-  

Qn: The more disturbing facts if the Church celebrates its sacraments and liturgy from a private room !!

Reply: Further to DUC-15 which talked about the temporal side of ecclesiastical goods, here is another, more important side, if SM Church choose to celebrate its sacraments and liturgy from a property registered in an individual's name…

Canon 868 – Sacred places, which are destined for divine worship, cannot be erected without the permission of the eparchial bishop, unless it is expressly established otherwise by common law.

Canon 869 – A church is a building exclusively dedicated for divine worship by consecration or blessing.

Canon 870 – No building destined to be a church is to be built unless the express consent of the eparchial bishop is given in writing, unless something else is expressly established by common law.

Canon 871 – §1. Cathedral churches and, if possible, parish churches, churches of monasteries and churches attached to religious houses, should be dedicated through consecration.

§2. Consecration is reserved to the eparchial bishop, who can grant the faculty of consecrating to another bishop; after the consecration or blessing has been performed, a document is to be drawn up for preservation in the archive of the eparchial curia.

Canon 872 – §1. Anything which is not consonant to the sanctity of the place is forbidden in a church.

§2. All whose concern it is are to care that such cleanliness is maintained in a church as befits the house of God, and that security means are taken to protect the sacred and precious objects.”

Gone are the days when our saviours had complained to the Bishop against MACAF celebrating August-15 Mass in Dinesh Hall and Town Hall, saying that SM Mass should not be celebrated outside consecrated Church..!!

Gone are the days when extra tables and makeshift alters were placed in Latin Churches of Ahmedabad to celebrate SM Mass only in the direction as suggested by SM Synod..!!

Gone are the days when complaints were made to local Parish Priests that separate rooms were not allotted for storage of SM mass articles and vestments !!

Gone are the days we revolted against watchmen keeping Church gates half-open, saying shade and security for our parked vehicles !!

Thank God ! our "Church Owners" are getting tolerant these days !!

NOTE: SMC4U hopefully wish that the authorities at least celebrate our sacraments and liturgy from the local churches, which they happily give us. If the church is occupied for Latin Rite services at any time, we can get the school hall or an alternative place within the  compound( like Malankara Church did) instead of our fake acting as an oppressed lot !! This is nothing but, for creating a situation like Jaipur, to show that SM Community is not allowed to use Latin Churches and went to Pentecostal Church !! What else if not a drama choreographed?

24.03.2018 : Daily Unity Capsule (DUC)-17:-  

Issue: Several members have contacted SMC4U with respect to the news item published on 19.03.2018 regarding its meeting with Fr. Joseph Pulavelil MST, Syncellus for Shamshabad Diocese. They have all referred to his statement that nobody from  Ahmedabad SM community has been entrusted for any collection drive, and his assurance that when any contribution is required, he would make a personal appeal Members have been telling that:-

Special collections are being carried out by a few persons in the name of constructing new SM Churches, right from the day of announcement about creation of Shamshabad Diocese !! Several lakhs of rupees have already been collected from different areas.

Collections are made by using the name of Shamshabad Diocese and citing sanction by Mar Raphael Thattil. It is also being told that the bishop himself will reach the houses which do not pay the amounts expected of them.

Veiled threats of canonical expulsion and sacramental ban were issued to those who show reluctance to pay the full amount demanded.

No receipts are given with the name of SM Church or Shamshabad Diocese, but receipts were given in the name of some private trust registered at an individual's residential address.

There are past instances where many members had paid money for publishing family greetings in an earlier souvenir. However, neither they were given any receipts, nor their greetings were published.

An unemployed youth was asked to shell out Rs. 50,000/-. Though he managed to pay Rs. 25,000/- he has been told that the rest amount will appear in the church records as his family arrears.

Compulsory collections are ongoing in some places by creating different groups, such as Mathruvedi, Pithruvedi, Youth Group, Govt. Employees' Group, Prayer Group, Housewives Group, etc

Parish based associations of faithful (from all Rites) belonging to different parishes, are told to dissolve and to transfer balance funds to the private trusts on behalf of Shamshabad Diocese.

People are told that the private trust registered in their residential address has been authorized to collect funds on behalf of Shamshabad Church, and that trust is authorized to construct SM Churches across Gujarat.

Amounts collected for constructing a church in Baroda has also been got transferred to this private trust, claiming directions by Bishop of Shamshabad.

Different priests are also accompanying for such collection, which indicates clear official sanction by the church for such forced collection.

Some members are also asked to additionally contribute Rs. 25-50 Lakhs towards a future plan of setting up an exclusive Housing Society for SM members.

Reply: SMC4U stands by the contents of news item published on 19.03.2018 regarding its meeting with Fr. Joseph Pulavelil, Syncellus. Therefore, SMC4U believes that the actual reply/explanation has to come from him or from Shamshabad Diocese! We too join the community to urge the authorities to ensure that such coercive actions, with or without the official sanction, should be stopped forthwith.

NOTE: SMC4U earnestly requests our Priests NOT to fall into the trap laid by a few vested interests to push forward their faulty dreams. Their association and presence gives an official color to such dreams, and the faithful become ultimate victims of scandals. Need an example? Read the news item on Sanjoe Social Welfare Society, ran from the shadow of Faridabad Diocese exactly in the same way !!!

25.03.2018 : Daily Unity Capsule (DUC)-18:-   

Question: On one side SMC4U say that it supports establishment of Shamshabad Diocese. On other side, SMC4U opposes construction of new churches. Without constructing new churches, how Shamshabad Diocese will function. Will you answer this question or will you ignore it ?

Reply: Although the answer is available in earlier DUCs, the nature of question prompts us to repeat the same.

SMC4U is neither against creation of Shamshabad Diocese, nor against need-based construction of new churches. Our objection is solely against dividing the community purely for institutionalization and for material benefits.

There is no doubt that Pope has erected Shamshabad Diocese with the sole intention that the Syro Malabarians preserve their tradition and culture. There is also no doubt that the Syro Malabarians of Ahmedabad were preserving and proudly practicing their faith and tradition in Syro Malabar Rite since last three generations. Thus, the main objective of the new diocese already stands accomplished even before its creation.

โš Now, what remains is only institutionalization of the administration, and centralization of money and power. Even we do not object these acts though it is pure entrepreneurship. What we say is not to divide a well settled community merely for selfish financial and power interests.

We have already 13-14 churches within the city area at our service. They are providing us all pastoral care in our own rites and liturgy. They wholeheartedly support us to preserve our faith and tradition. Then, what is the need for constructing more church buildings within the city area with forceful contribution from people (rather extortion)?? It is not need-based, but sheer waste of community resources; that too at the risk of Unity and Fellowship !!

On the other hand, we too support construction of churches in the areas where we have none today, and where people have to travel long for their spiritual needs. Such churches could be constructed by SM Church and could also be used by Latin Church for their pastoral needs, in the same we use theirs…!! I am sure you can imagine the beauty of such a coexistence and fellowship!!

NOTE: The question is, are we here to expand the spiritual kingdom of Christ, or to conquer and conquest new places to expand our material kingdom, a kingdom of wealth, power and money !! That too in real patani ishtyle !!

26.03.2018 : Daily Unity Capsule (DUC) 19:-

There was an announcement by an individual in Loyola on Palm Sunday that collections are to start again next month. It is also claimed that the money is deposited in a trust where Mar Thattil and Fr Kuriachen are the trustees. Can SMC4U clarify the matter?

Reply: SMC4U had received categorical statement from Fr Joseh Pulavelil, Syncellus of Shamshabad Diocese that nobody has been authorised by the diocese for any collection from the people, and that if at all any collection is required, he would make an official appeal for the same.

Not only that, Syncellus had also assured SMC4U that henceforth no private person will stand at the pulpit during the SM Mass to make any church related announcements!!

And if it still happens, let the community realise the sorry state of affairs when even the church officials are dumbfolded ??

SMC4U tried to gather the  facts on the trust from Fr Kuriachen. The trust Thoma Marg Sabarmati was registered in July, 2017 when Shamshabad Diocese was not even established. It has no official sanction from Syro Malabar Church or the Diocese of Shamshabad. Mar Thattil and Kuriachen were added to the list of trustees in their personal capacities, and not as the Bishop or Episcopal Vicar. Their names are used for creating an official colour among the people! There are other private persons as trustees, who are actually managing the affairs (like the church actually managed). In short, administratively SM Church has nothing to do with it!

Information received by SMC4U shows that the trust is already having a balance over a Crore which was collected from the faithful of Ahmedabad and Baroda dioceses. It is also said that amounts collected from some persons in the guise of ‘ investment with high returns’ have been converted into donations against their will, thereby they already lost money!

We feel that with the changed status of both Mar Thattil and Kuriachen and the change in basic nature of the trust, it lost moral right to continue collection. Moreover, if the amount is to be utilised towards creating assets on behalf of Shamshabad Diocese, the trust has to get ratification from the people who paid the money and now choose Option-1.

This trust appears to have no official mandate from SM Church or Shamshabad Diocese for constructing all Syro Malabar Churches in Gujarat. The claims made on these grounds are factually wrong.

Shamshabad Diocese and the Syncellus have not come up with an official clarification on this trust and the amount lying in its account. They have also not issued any appeal for collection as promised. Therefore, SMC4U requests the community not to contribute any money to private people or trust. If at all you want to contribute to our Mother Church, you have the right to ask for an official receipt from the Diocese of Shamshabad. Moreover, why anybody should insist to pay money in their name when we have a diocese, bishop and local Syncellus??!

NOTE: It is money and power that corrupt the leaders! We need no examples of Europe or America to learn how bad things are in Church. We believe that our community members are prudent enough before contributing  their hard earned money to the whimsical fantasy of a few! When things go wrong, clergy will wash their hands off with a simple press note, as is happening these days!! And the poor faithful will be left to chant Hari Om !!

Issue: If the geographical jurisdiction of a diocese is sacrosanct and considered unbreachable, how there is a compromise formula drawn up in the case of Agra Mission?

Reply: Etawah Mission (which is also called Agra Mission) comprises of a large area falling under Firozabad District, which is originally a part of Latin Archdiocese of Agra. In the year 1975, Archbishop of Agra had handed over this region to Changanacherry Archdiocese of Syro Malabar Church for 'evangelical purpose'. Since then Changanacherry Archdiocese has established a large number of institutions there, though the number of catholics remains the same at around 500.

If we consider the jurisdiction of Shamshabad Diocese in the light of Papal Decree, the entire area falling under Agra Archdiocese including Etawah Mission, should come under the new diocese. If you thought that Changanacherry humbly accepted the Papal decision, it is not so.. โš . As per information available, a secret agreement has been executed between Shamsabad and Changanacherry to exclude Etawah Mission from the jurisdiction of Shamshabad. It is easy now to draw conclusion as to whether the papal decrees are sacrosanct and whether diocesan jurisdictions are unbreachable.

NOTE:  If the 500 faithful and the priests/nuns of Etawah Mission can remain members of Changanacherry Archdiocese, what is that big thing which prohibits our community from remaining members of Ahmedabad Diocese?? If it is their history of 42 years, we have a history of 70 years. In short, wisdom and convenience breach even the unbreachable!

Question: Please correct me if I am wrong? ๐Ÿค”Even if  SM Catholics are under the jurisdiction of Shamshabad, they have the canonical right to participate in the liturgical services of Latin or Syrian church. Sacraments also can be received in the Latin church with the permission of Syrian priest. Letter of Latin priest, where one is baptized, or of the Syrian priest, is valid for receiving sacraments in Kerala. As the Pope says those who attend Latin parishes may request some assistance from Syrian priest. That means my choice to attend Latin services does not exclude me from Syrian church. After the creation of Shamshabad diocese bishop of Ahmedabad does not have the authority to appoint any priest for SM Community. The appointments already made stands annulled. There is no question of parallel arrangements done by bishop of Ahmedabad and bishop of Shamshabad..?๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Reply:  โœBasically, for the faithful who choose Option-1, no practical change will happen. ๐Ÿ‘ŒBut, for the priests, all documentation and notification becomes a procedural mandate. โ˜Holy Father desires that such documentation and communication should be carried out promptly with proper coordination among the Churches.๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ‘‰Even if a SM faithful is under the natural jurisdiction of Shamshabad,  he has the canonical right to participate in the liturgical services of the present Latin or the new Syrian church, i.e. Option-1 or Option-2 respectively. ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ‘‰SMC4U has been explaining since more than a month about the facts and provisions of Option-1 and Option-2 which are available to SM faithful as per Papal Decrees. ๐Ÿ‘ŒWe have also published English and Malayalam version of the concerned decrees and related canon provisions. โ˜๏ธInstead of them crying hoarse, we challenge then to quote relevant passage and interpret it to substantiate their claims. ๐Ÿ‘Do we need their daily speech to know that the new diocese was erected just for "evangelisation"?๐Ÿ˜„

๐Ÿ‘‰While SM faithful are considered natural members of Shamshabad diocese, they are absolutely in NO WAY duty bound to receive their pastoral care including sacraments and liturgy from Shamshabad diocese or its parishes. ๐Ÿ‘ŒIt is a mere hallucination of a few fanatic ritists that no option is available for the faithful.
