Rev. Fr. Basil Bhuria Svd was ordained for Bishop of Jhabua Diocese , Madhya Pradesh

Rev. Fr. Basil Bhuria Svd received the prestigious  Episcopal Ordination from His Excellency Archbishop  Salvatore Pennacchio, the Apostolic  Nuncio to India and Nepal at Meghnagar,  Jhabua district, Madhya Pradesh  here today. 

The Episcopal Ordination ceremony began at 9.30 am with the procession from the bishop's house with local tribal dance followed by Holy Mass. During the Mass the order of the letter to ordain fr. Basil was read out to the people. His Excellency Archbishop Salvatore  quoting bible  from Luke said the sprit of the Lord has annointed Fr. Basil to serve and love the poor in God's Kingdom has been fulfilled  today. We are all need to come out of ourselves to serve the poor and the downtrodents in joy and gladness. In the words of pope francis he asked to imitate the passion of Christ Jesus to serve the people of God. Catholic Church is a communion of community. Be not afraid i am with you says the Lord. 

He asked the people not to say like prophet Jeramiah that I do not know to speak but to come out boldly trusting His providence to serve. Bishop is not to rule and seek honour but to serve. He asked priests to  cooperate with bishop with the sprit of communion and obedience. In the year of consecrated life he asked religious sisters to work tiredlessly and be loyel to bishop.  He also asked the bishop to serve the people as the minister of Christ. At last he appreciated bishop Dev prasad Ganawa, the former bishop of Jhabua for efficiently leading the people of God.

After his homily he anointed the head of Fr. Basil with sacred Chrism oil and handed over a bible to proclaim the word of God with unfailing patience and sound teaching. Then His Excellency placed the ring on the ring finger of the right  hand to seal of his fidelity and to protect the bride of holy Church followed by conferring the mitre upon  the ordained  as sign of his holiness. Finally  he gave the pastoral staff to the ordained as a sign of his pastoral office.

Later the archbishops Most Rev. Dr Leo Cornelio, Bhopal and Most Rev. Dr. Abraham Viruthakulangara, Nagpur along with the other 15 bishops blessed the newly ordained Bishop Basil and wished him all the best. Later bishop Basil continued the celebration of the Holy Mass in hindi.The choir sang the hymns in Bhil language. There were nearly 300 priests 100 religious and 3000 people were present for the Episcopal ceremony. 

Later it ended with one hour felicitation program.
