After church attacks, group launches helpline

New Delhi  – In a first of its kind initiative by any religious minority group in the country, Christians’ group, “following rise in targeted communal violence especially in the Capital” have launched a national helpline number to help victims of violence for their community members.

The United Christian Forum for Human Rights officially launched a 24-hour national helpline recently (number 1800-208-4545) and will have lawyers and experts to assist victims of violence, intimidation, coercion and illegal confinement by any criminal or political group, reported thehindu.com.

The helpline will be free of charge.

Dr. John Dayal, spokesperson for the Forum, said: “This is an unprecedented coming together of all major denominational and non-denominational Christian groups, following the rise in targeted communal violence.”
