To all Reformers: Dr James Kottoor

Pope Francis acknowledged and affirmed the position of all the baptized in our Church when he raised this question to the bishops in South America: "As pastors, bishops, and priests, are we conscious and convinced of the mission of the lay faithful and do we give them the freedom to continue discerning, in a way befitting their growth as disciples, the mission which the Lord has entrusted to them?"

Too many bishops are still resistant to hearing from their people. The time has come for all – Catholics and former Catholics alike – to assume a co-responsible role by taking tangible steps "to manifest their views on matters which concern the good of the Church" (Canon 212 #3).  We, the People of God, need not wait for some other well organized group or some appointed leader to take action steps toward reform of our Church. Let's join together and begin now!

First and most Urgent Action Step:

Pope Francis wants to hear from you. He is eager to know you and your family. Only a short time remains to take this Survey and pass it on to your friends.. It is an opportunity to share the challenges of your family life with the pope and how effective the Church's pastoral care has been for you. Hurry as the deadline is mid-March 2015.

Second Urgent Action Step

We can't leave reform of the Church up to the all male hierarchy. Support the pope by making your voice heard at the Synod. In addition to taking our survey, we encourage you to hold a listening session with your friends or in you parish. Click here for all you will need. We have only the month of March to hold these sessions and report the outcome.

Follow up Action Step:

We invite you to sign our open letter to Pope Francis letting him know that we want our voices heard at the Synod but the Lineamenta Questionnaire released by the Vatican Secretariat is not accomplishing his wishes. We at CCRI feel this questionnaire is not only failing but was designed to fail.

Last Action Step:

Send a letter to your Apostolic Nuncio. CCRI has sent a letter to the U.S. Nuncio asking him to notify Pope Francis of our concerns. We have drafted a model letter to Nuncios all over the world for your convenience. We encourage you to send this letter adding your own unique concerns pertinent to your country. You can go here now to find the email address of each Apostolic Nucnio worldwide.

This is not the time to remain silent. Now is the time for us to speak out. Join with reformers worldwide to make your voice heard.
