World’s largest Bible in making by Haryana’s Jacob Harmeet

Hisar (Matters India): World’s biggest hand-written Bible is in the making by an Indian from the state of Haryana. Jacob Harmeet, a resident of Hisar, is on his way to create a record of writing world’s biggest Bible.

Jacob is currently working on getting his achievement registered in the Limca Book of World Records and Asia Book of Records. Currently writing the second part – The New Testimony, Jacob wants to break the record of Bhopal’s Sunil Joseph.

The first part of the Bible – The Old Testimony – was completed on April 24 and took Jacob one year, two months and 24 days. Spending around seven to eight hours daily for writing the first part, he had started writing the first part on January 1, 2013. The first part has about 1432 pages and was written using different colour sketch pens.

Talking with iamin about writing the second part, Jacob says, “The second part of the Bible- The new Testimony is at the final stage. I had started working on it on April 25, 2015. There are about 515 pages out of which I have written 486 already.” Jacob is working on breaking Sunil’s current record of 123 days by writing the Bible in 108 days. Jacob, who earlier worked as a contractor, has spent about one lakh fifty thousand rupees in writing the first part of the Bible, reported DNA.

The Bible is being written on chart papers and each page is 22 by 28 inches. The weight of each section is about 82 kg. Every page is laminated to protect them for which Jacob spent Rs 40/page. 64-year-old Jacob dreams of establishing a Guinness Book of World Record with the handwritten Bible. However, he does not have the financial support to make it that big.

“I respect all the religions. My next goal is to write the holy Quran and the Ramayana. I also wanted to write the Guru Granth Sahib, but rules for writing it are quite strict, therefore I backed out,” says Jacob.
