Bhubaneswar—The Conference of Diocesan priests of India (CDPI) has decided to discuss on pastoral care to the family in its next national council, said Father I. Raymond Joseph, CDPI secretary.

“The theme ‘Effective ministry to the family in the light of Synod’ chosen for this year for the national meeting goes in line with the universal Church and the clarion call of our beloved Pope Francis ‘the pastoral care of the families,’” said Father Joseph.

This theme would certainly give the participants a great opportunity to reflect the depth of their ministry and mission to Christian families in the parishes and to come out with real enthusiasm to ‘live with the smell of the sheep’ and to serve the people of God, said the priest.

The meeting will take place at Pallottine Animation Centre, Nagpur, February 24-27, 2015.

Executive members of CDPI and its diocesan units from all dioceses of India are scheduled to attend the conference.

Father Arulraj Gali, Holy Cross, who was represented India in the recently (Oct 2014) concluded Synod on Family in Rome will be the resource person.

The Conference of Catholic Bishops’ of India (CCBI) – Latin Rite has recognized CDPI as legal national association of diocesan clergy. CDPI is grouped under the aegis of CCBI Commission for Clergy.
