New Delhi: An Orthodox church in New Delhi has installed a food vending machine for the poor and homeless.

Named ‘Share N Care,’ the machine at Mar Gregorious Orthodox Church in Janakpuri, a western suburb of the national capital, is stocked up with water and fruit. The aim is to serve those in genuine need but cannot afford these basic necessities throughout summer.

“This little step by the church can bring some change and help those who are in real need,” Nancy Roger, a visitor of the church, told the Deccan Chronicle.

According to her, people crave for chilled water and some seasonal water fruit when the climate gets hot. “There are some under privileged people who can’t afford these things.”

The inspiration came from a restaurant in Kochi, Kerala, that installed a public refrigerator for donating food to the poor and homeless.

The machine is for the people who cannot afford to buy food or water. These people can take products as per their need from this machine.
