A large number of worshippers, cutting across religious barriers,are expected to turn up. Apart from Indians, scores of pilgrims from Colombo in Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore and other countries are expected to attend this festival.
Fr. Lerin De Rose, Rector and Parish Priest of the Basilica, said that the 11-day festival would commence with flag hoisting on July 26.
On the eve of flag hoisting ceremony, pilgrims would take out a flag procession, the priest informed.
Bishop Yvon Ambroise of Tuticorin, former Archbishop Peter Fernando of Madurai and Fr. Antony Devotta of Tiruchi Diocese would conduct prayer services at the Basilica.
“The district administration and Tuticorin Corporation have extended their cooperation to ensure smooth conduct of the feast festival. Basic facilities would be provided to the worshippers,” Fr. De Rose said.
Assistant Parish Priest Silvester and others were present.
