A Sensible Solution to a Long Withheld Church Problem!

Endogamy, on which the knanaya community is divided these days, is a matter of hot debate within the Syro Malabar circles.  Alex J. Mapleton (Las Vegas) suggests a solution and CCV invites our esteemed readers to review his ideas. Here is the extract of his letter to Shri. Zac, Associate editor of CCV.

"I have been reading & enjoying your frequent writings. Your enthusiasm and drive to improve current practices in our church are very commendable. We must continue this indefinitely.
I am a Knanaya Catholic originally from Kidangoor, (near Pala) now living in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Dr. James Kottoor is my friend & was senior to me at St Mary's High School, Kidangoor. James (when he was in USA 2 years ago, when we reconnected) and I have, in the past discussed many topics including the practice of endogamy.
I have yet to see any sensible Knanite making a claim of "pure blood" (shuddha rektam") to retain the practice of endogamy. On the contrary, I have personally heard non-knanites saying that we are of pure blood and attributing some of our qualities because of it. To me therefore, to spread this non-existent piece of argument will not add any credibility to anyone doing it.
For the past 12 years, I have been coming to Kerala every year and stay for 4-6 months. My house is near the Kidangoor Forane Church on the old road. I will try to meet you and the editor of "Sathya Jwala" during my next visit, possibly later this year to personally encourage your good work.
In the near future, I intend to write an article clarifying why Knanites practiced their traditions for readers of "Almayasabdam" etc. I had the good fortune of editing a book "KNANYA CATHOLICS:HISTORY, HERITAGE & HEROES". It contains many informative articles.
It is my dream that all Catholics in India come under one rite and the country is divided into geographical units for each diocese, following the principle,"One flock, One shepherd". That will allow the Archdiocese of Kottayam to merge with the rest. Some years  ago' I wrote on this topic.
As time allows pl. feel free to visit my  website: www.alexjmapleton.com.Here you will also get to hear samples of my songs from the 8 audio CDs I have already published.
You can count on my support for most of your efforts to reform the church and educate the laity as opportunity arises. Currently I am completing ten plus audio CDs (at Amala, Kanjirappally) and assisting with a medical rehab set up in Thodupuzha."
Thanks   Alex J. Mapleton
